Chief of Staff Brigadier GeneralAlfredo PIETROLUCCI
Brigadier General Alfredo PIETROLUCCI was born in Rieti on April 3, 1977.
After graduating from high school, he attended the Air Force Academy in Pozzuoli in 1996, and in 2000 he graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Sciences.
He completed flight training in 2002 at the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) at Sheppard AFB, Texas, USA.
In October 2002, he was assigned to the 46th Air Brigade in Pisa. Between 2002 and 2003, he participated in the Operational Conversion of the C-130J aircraft. From 2002 to 2014, he was stationed at the 2nd Tactical Transport Group of the 46th Air Brigade, where he held various positions, including flight instructor, planning officer, and standardization and evaluation officer. He flew nearly 3,000 hours on the C-130J aircraft
In 2009, he attended the Normal Course at ISMA in Florence (IT).
In May 2014, he was Commander of the “Albatros” Task Group in Herat, Afghanistan, as part of the ISAF mission.
Between October 2014 and May 2015, he attended the Instructor Conversion Course at the 61st Wing in Galatina (IT), and became an instructor pilot on the MB339A and MB339CD aircraft. Subsequently, he was assigned to the 213th Flight Group of the 61st Wing, where he served as Operations Section Chief in 2016 and Group Commander in 2017.
He has flown more than 1,000 hours as an instructor pilot.
Between September 2017 and August 2018, he attended the 21st Advanced Command and Staff Course at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom in Shrivenham, UK.
Since September 2018, he has been assigned to the General Planning Office of the 3rd Department of the Defence General Staff.
Since September 2021, he has been assigned to the General Office for Space (UGS) of the Air Force General Staff, where he served initially as Head of the 1st Office and subsequently as Deputy Chief of the General Office.
Between sept. 2024 and sept. 2026 he served as 14° Wing Commander.
Since sept. 2026 he has been appointed as Chieff of Staff at EUNAV FOR MED IRINI operation in Rome.
Brigadier General PIETROLUCCI has flown more than 4,000 hours in various aircraft types.
His decorations include:
– Silver Medal for Long Air Navigation;
– Commemorative Cross for Participation in International Rescue Operations – ISAF (Afghanistan);
– Commemorative Cross for Participation in Operation Antica Babilonia (Iraq);
– NATO Medal for “Non-Article 5” Operations – ISAF (Afghanistan);
– NATO Medal for “Non-Article 5” Operations – Unified Protector (Libya);
– NATO Medal for “Non-Article 5” Operations – Africa;
– Silver Cross for Seniority (16 years);
– Certificate of Public Merit from the Department of Civil Protection – 3rd Class – 1st Band (Bronze Medal).
Brigadier General PIETROLUCCI is married and has two children.
